Curious that the rib pitch isn’t the same as the other grates.NOT compatible with the GrateTool
you just place them right on top of the grate? I have the original OGS ss grates, along with the CI insert and the poultry insert. Wonder if these are needed?Pretty good deal on seconds. Here - You get the two grates plus the grate tool for $35. That's more than half off. It'll fit in your Weber kettle. They call it a "factory second" but the truth is, there's nothing wrong with it - they're just overstocked, apparently. https://www.grillgrate.com/products/grillgrate-set-for-the-medium-big-green-egg-factory-second/
Those look like the same grates that grillgrate is selling as factory seconds. As I said, the seconds at grillgrate are actually not seconds. The grill grate prices are a bit cheaper than above and shipping is free if you are willing to drop $70.My go to BBQ store near me has these on sale currently, all sizes about 50% off.
I see people using them but not a lot....are they worth it???? I don't feel like I am missing them but maybe I am?
Looks like most are for propane shaped grills, in the pic below would any of these work well for the 22" or the 18" kettles?

Yes, just place them on top of your existing grate. Lots of people love these because they make great grill marks. You also get better heat distribution since they're aluminum - like a good aluminum pan. These are certainly not needed though. I prefer to use the opposite side of these - the flat side. That makes them like a griddle. It's the only way I do burgers now. Burgers cook just like on a griddle. You get a nice sear and you retain more of the juices. But you also get the smoke flavor coming up through the holes in the griddle/grate. You can also do steaks on the griddle side to maximize that sear. But these are just another optional tool for your arsenal, certainly not necessary.you just place them right on top of the grate?
