Hey guys, I dont know if this is the right place to be posting, but im taking a shot.

I have a WSM 18.5 and a 26" kettle style bbq grill. I want to build the bbq into a grill cart to make a portable workstation with the grill. Now i am also thinking of getting the WSM into the cart, BUT i dont want to lose prep area. I am attaching a couple pix of the basic type of cart im thinking. Im going to remove the legs/stand from the bbq (Seems those are going to be the first things to go anyway).

Anyone have any thoughts on hwo i can get the WSM stored in the cart wihout having to cut a second hole in the grill top.

The main thing im trying to get to is having a single unit that i can roll out onto the deck when needed, and something i can cover like another big gas grill as a single unit.

Im open to all suggestions.

I am not thinking a expandable folding table off of one or both sides. i can have them both built in and still pivot up a couple side tables for work areas.

I'm not sure what you're asking, do you own the set up in the first photo or what?
Check out the cart design that the guy used on the thread called "Meet Drogon" I like that concept but, I think I would use larger wheels but, that's just me.
If you are trying to add the WSM to the top cart, why not simply bolt either a deck extending out one end (or the side) and attach the unit there? Or you could use angle iron strategically placed and bolt the smoker to them. That would be pretty straightforward and cheap.
Did that give you something to chew on?

Thanks guys, i guess i was rambling in my first post (that often happens). I own the 2 grills and want to get them both build into a cart of some sort. Just wondering if anyone had ideas. the pix of carts are jsut some i found around the net. There are few that build in the WSM for obvious reasons (3 parts).

thanks

I think Tim and I are thinking in a similar direction.
If I were building one I would build the basic deck like the one in the first photo and use the angle iron, if you use perforated material, you would not need to drill the legs to bolt them down, you could use HD zip ties. In my mind that would allow a little extra height and ease ash cleanup. I raised the height of mine when I made the new work table in my avatar. Being over six feet tall, if I spent long time working at the grill my back would get really tired. I raised the height by about four and a half inches using bigger wheels and extending the legs with pipe. I just modified the performer carriage.
Depending on your stature, that may or may not be of any importance just my observation.
