Griddle Top Restoration & Smoothing

So I have seen some pictures, posts around the internet and thought I would ask here, if anyone has done it? I’ve seen where people have taken a Blackstone griddle and sanded all of the texture out of them to make them beautifully smooth. Curious if anyone here has done it or is considering doing it? I have a 28” that I just LOVE(d), but am starting to consider giving it a whirl.

I have also contemplated selling it and buying an insert for my 330 and using that as a dedicated griddle only. I think N/S burners would be better for heat control, and having the sear burner could make for some super hot searing capability!

Thoughts?

None. But if I’m doing it, it’s going to be done right!
That's my motto. I smoothed mine before the sides got welded on. That being said, I don't know what you are working with. I have two griddles. One is just a 1/4" stainless plate that takes up just more than half the grill space on the Genesis grill. No sides on that one, just a flat plate and I use that one more than the other one.
The other one is 1/2" thick stainless and probably weighs 50 pounds or more and takes a half hour to get up to temp. Not used much unless there are a bunch of people coming over
