Hello All, This website is awesome. I just received my Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5 in the mail and put it together. I am planning on cooking on it for the first time this weekend. I am thinking about cooking ribs in my initial smoke... any suggestions? I have been a homeowner for over a year and this is my 3rd grill. I have a Weber Kettle that was left by the little old lady who was the homeowner before and a larger gas grill that was a gift from my parents. I bought my Smokey Mountain with gift cards from my coworkers that were a gift for my recent wedding. Looking forward to being a contributer on these boards and am open to all tips/ suggestions!

Thanks!

Zach

Welcome to the site Zach.
Ribs sound good for your first cook. Maybe ribs on top grate and pork butt on bottom?? Don't forget your camera for your first cook.

Welcome! Your going to love it here. What ever you do for your first cook just have fun, and my advice is to not skimp on the charcoal to much when your filling up the ring. It can take a fair amount to get it to temp, might not have to be full, but don't go light. Anyway that my two cents.

Welcome to the forum Zach. Ribs sound like a good idea. Remember don't use to much lit to start, catch your temps on the way up and if you ever have Bruce over for a BBQ please invite me. I'll bring the beer.

Welcome to the forums Zach! Congratulations on the new home and recent wedding!

You'll love your WSM - I have the 18.5" as well, and it's great!:wsm:
