Green vegetation on smoking wood

I generally buy my pecan wood from a sporting good store and it comes in a big bag and still has bark on it but is split (not chunks but logs). I pulled one piece out to toss on the fire and noticed it had very small green vegetation on it of some sort growing on the bark. I suspect its just a moss of some sort, but its stringy, not wet or moist, just kind of stringy green stems. Is this going to do anything to the flavor of my meat?

Russ some people remove bark...the other extreme is to throw anything on the fire. I fall in the middle. My experience is that bark is ok-I would not want anything green on the wood however.
