Green Head

You can certainly paint them. However, do not expect it to be very durable and don't try scrubbing grease and grime off it with a green scratchy pad or steel wool.
Ahhh I see.

I got my grill a couple of years ago. I’m going to paint the sides and the firebox because the paint is chipping. How do you suggest I do this? Would you recommend sanding it first, adding primer maybe, then painting then clearcoat? Or just paint it with high temp paint? What is the proper way to paint the sides, frame and firebox?

Chris that is a loaded question. There are various levels you can rehab the grill to. I will assume you are going to keep this grill and expect to keep it for the long haul. First, on a keeper grill, I suggest only a good cleaning on the inside rather than taking it all down to bare metal. It is all just going to bet gunked up anyway. On the outside of the lid end caps and the cook box, I suggest that you strip them down to bare metal and repaint with a good high temp paint. I use Rustoleum High Heat on the cook box and I use Rustoleum High heat Ultra on the end caps. You don't need primers or clear coats. Do not paint the insides of the cook box or the end caps. A small amount of over spray is OK, but keep it limited.

This is very informative! Thank you so much. My final question (for now) is how do you strip the paint on the firebox and the end caps? Do you use paint thinner or some sort of stripper? Or should I sand it?

The current finish is very resistant to regular stripping agents. Most people either use a wire brush on a drill/impact wrench or a wire cup brush on an angle grinder. The other option is to find a local sand blasting outfit that can blast them. They will do the insides and outsides.

Bruce, I'm in the proses of rehabing a flipper grill and it has a beautiful green lid.
I'm not a fan but if it sells, that's fine with me.
