Anyone who has a Duchess like me, probably knows that the "new" PK company unfortunately does not sell a replacement grate for this grill. To my knowledge the only grate being sold anywhere that fits the top of this grill is made of thin, plated steel and has no fold-up side.
I have been working with Mark Baron of Killa Grilla to make a high quality 304 stainless grate with the thick bars he uses on all his products and the same fold-up side as the original. Of course, set up costs makes just one grate pretty pricey. However, if 5 of us can go in on this, the price delivered to me would be $100 each + shipping. Maybe it would be cheaper to have them individually delivered to avoid shipping twice. At any rate, if you are interested in going in on this with me, please contact me. I am sure we can set it up where you pay Mark directly. I am not interested in making any profit. I just want to revive my 50+ year old PK Duchess and help others do the same. These grates would offer the best of a near original look and functionality of the fold-up side while having thick enough bars to put on nice sear marks! With high-grade stainless construction they will last for years. I have three sets of Mark's grates for my 22 and 26 inch Weber kettles and can vouch for their high quality and relative ease of cleaning.
