I picked up a Genesis silver b off of CL yesterday. It is in pretty good shape and only seems to need a new gas hose and regulator. I should have that waiting for me when I get home from work today. The guy I got it from knew it was a pretty simple fix but wanted to switch to natural gas so he sold it to me for $20. He said he thinks its about 10 years old so lets say about a 2005 or 2006 model.
I have 2 questions. One. On the shelf that hangs down on the Left hand side, What holds it up in place when you lift it? Mine just drops back down. And 2, how do you know if it has 5 or 13 flavorized bars? This one now has five in there but I have seen pictures where there were 13.
Once I know all is well and everything works as it should I will replace the flavorizer bars and replace the grill plates with grill grates. I think those will serve me best seeing as I like to grill a lot of fish and I feel that the grates will keep the sticking to a minimum. I use a 22" kettle OTS most of the time but figured this gasser will come in handy now that days are getting shorter and there is not much light left when I get home from work.
