Genesis Silver B lid

My trusty Genesis Silver B recently tipped over in a massive storm (a table crashed into it). When it fell, the hinge on the lid broke. Specifically, the lid portion of the hinge broke. My question is, could it be welded back together? It is aluminum (my understanding). The parts in question are the left and right end caps.

I believe it is cast aluminum. My father is a pipe fitter and I have seen him weld cast aluminum with good results. If you know what your doing and have the equipment, go for it! Good luck.

Okay thanks. I was actually going to take it to a fabrication shop, see what the pros can do with it. I haven't welded in years and do not have the equipment. Just curious what people thought in terms of the welds holding, given the heat, and the fact that it is aluminum that is being welded.
