Genesis S320 (side burner) convert to propane

Just picked up a genesis s320 NG side burner for $25. She cleaned up nice. Didn’t realize it was NG until after I put in the hard work cleaning.

Ive read some mixed reviews about converting to propane by using kits found online. Thoughts? Otherwise, I’ll just flip it and get my money back. It’ll sell. Will post pics tomorrow.

Thanks all

I converted my entire e330 with just a jet replacement.

I could not find a manifold at the time

The side burner runs hot. Have nothing to compare it to, but it heats my wok very well and a 12 Inch CI pan too. It won't go down to just a simmer.

The side burner is no issue to convert. Actually for an outdoor burner you may find it works better with the NG jet on LP but YMMV. As for conversion of the "entire" grill with only orifices. Some yes others no. Depends on which valves Weber installed

I would be changing entire grill to propane

thoughts?

Just change out the manifold with an LP manifold. then change the side burner orifice to LP and you should be golden.

Yep, the only difference between a NG Weber Genesis and an LP Genesis is the manifold. Oh, the NG grill will not have a tank hanger/Scale either so if you are going from NG to LP, you will want to source a scale as well. The manifold includes the valves and orifices, so it is the simplest, and most fool proof way to make the conversion. Just make sure you have the correct model of Manifold. You cannot put a manifold from a Genesis 1000 on a Silver B and vice versa.

It is VERY safe. Just be sure to use the proper pipe dope in threads that call for a sealer. (Basically only NPT types call for it). Good rule of thumb taught to me by a licensed gas fitter is under 1/2" use dope. Over 1/2" use tape. (though on the larger fittings dope is still "safe") But tape is preferred on larger fittings. On a grill you will likely not find over 1/2" fittings unless it's a monster grill like my Wolf.
