Recently picked up and restored a 2000 redhead, turned out beautiful. The red hood has a bad chip in it so I’m looking to buy another red hood or preferably a blue one, anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum and nice job on the grill. Do you have the flip up table for it? As far as the lid, my suggestion is to find the nicest one you can regardless of the color.
Didn’t have the flip table unfortunately, but would love to add it

While you wait for a red or blue replacement hood, you may be able to touch up those chips on your current hood. I’ve had good success using Testors Enamel model paint on small spots on the exterior of some kettle lids. It has stood up to the heat so far.

Just keep your eyes open on the sale sites. A grill with a red lid should pop up soon enough. A lid from a Genesis 1000-5000 or a Genesis Silver B should fit your grill.

I went back to where I grew up recently and met up with my best friend from when I was 20 years old who I hadn't seen in 20 years. I went to his house and met his kids and grandkids. Couldn't help but noticed a rotted out POS Kenmore grill he had. I now know what to do with my Redhead 2000. I'll be heading back up there to donate it to their family. Trying to decide if I want to change out the original wood for Brazilian Walnut. Maybe a custom engraved handle with their family name on it.

Hey, I was your best pal when we were 19. You don't remember? That's alright. I'll just send my address and await delivery of one of your perfectly restored genesis. No need to change the wood, best buddy. 🤣

Seriously, your friend is going to be ecstatic when you give it to him.

Don't you remember Josh? Riding our bikes to Olson Rug on Diversey Ave in the 50s? I bet it's 40 years since I've seen you :D

Mark, I LIKE it. That is exactly the grill Renee and I loaded in our F150 back in 1992 at Kay's Merchandise
