Genesis 1000 Cookbox Differences

I took apart 2 Genesis 1000s and noticed the cook boxes are different. Does anybody know why they are different? Is one older or maybe better? Thanks.

The difference is where the box sits on the frame.

I've only seen ones like the one on the left.

My Skyline cookbox was like the one on the right and the others are like the left picture . All similar dates.

I have seen both and they are both 13 bar deep boxes. No difference functionally.

I've seen both too. Now the question is... Did they switch over at some point? Or did they use the two designs side-by-side in production. I'll try to look at a few cookboxes when the weather improves.

Could have been a running change or perhaps they had 2 different foundries doing the castings.

What are the differences if any on the inside?

There are differences inside the cook box. The picture on the right, is the box with the notching.
