Genesis 1000-5000 wood slat thickness?

I measured the original Durwood slats and they are slightly less than 3/4 inch. More like 11/16. For those of you who have made slats, do you just do 3/4 inch? I’d imagine it’s acceptable if the slats slick up past the z bar?

The slats aren't supposed to stick up past the Zbars. That being said, if you make your own and have no way of planing them down I don't think there is any crime being committed. I would have to check my notes, but I believe 11/16" is the right number.

I think they’re the same thickness as a durawood slat. I just measured 5/8” on mine

I would also say, I used 5/8” cedar fence slats from Lowe’s, and to get the rough planer marks off the wood I had to take quite a bit of material off. So 11/16” might not be a bad starting point depending on how smooth you want the finish to be.

If you leave them at 3/4 maybe you could bevel the ends with a router.
