Hi all,

Just refurbished my 25ish year old genesis platinum. Don't quite recall exactly when I bought it but at the time the box was wrecked and I had a minor chip on the corner of both ceramic plated top pieces. I was afraid it might allow rust to start and prematurely degrade them so I reached out to Weber and got replacements. For some reason they also sent a fold down shelf replacement..

They all sat in the garage until this year because those tiny chips never got any worse. The bottom tray of the grill rusted out and collapsed along wit the doors falling off since it supported them. I put in a new base of 1/8 inch plate steel, put on all of my new parts and it looks like a brand new grill!

The old parts are in good enough shape that I can't just toss them. When I searched for a replacement base I realized parts are very hard to come by so I joined here to find someone in need!

I will post the part numbers as soon as I figure out where I should do that.

I guess I will post a youtube link to my rebuild as well. There was probably a better way but it was easy and very solid.

Here is my base replacement video..

Very nice job on that. Some people choose to open cart those stainless steel Platinum grills after all the panels are rotted out. You did a great job of maintaining the original look of the grill. Love it.
