For You Rehabbers Interesting Stuff

In restoring grills, it is not a whole lot different than restoring classic cars. Some want pure stock restorations while others enjoy customization. I have done both. I think it depends on the grill and what you are wanting to achieve. I have used mahogany and red oak for slats, and although stained wood, neither would qualify as an authentic Weber original.

This one has mahogany slats rather than the original durawood, including slats on the bottom that Weber did not do at all. It is also a "Frankengrill" made from early and later Silver A parts for a friend. Just different. In this case, I think more fun than just doing a standard Silver A. But on something more classic, I tend to lean towards a "stock" restoration.
