For awhile now, I've been wearing Crocs when I cook. Many of you are familiar with these rubber/silicon clogs. http://www.amazon.com/Beach-Crocs-Adults-SAGE-S/dp/B000...26?ie=UTF8&s=apparel
For instance, today, it's chilly (38*) and wet here in Central Texas. Going in and out of the house as I set up to smoke a turkey can get messy. The Crocs slip easily on and off, you can step in the muck and obviously are waterproof. The style I have are solid over the foot; they don't have the holes throughout them, so rain or whatever don't get in. Plus they're extremely comfortable on hard floors like in the kitchen. I'm guessing many cooks have been using these for some time. For those in the colder climes, I'd think a good woolen sock worn with these would be great.
