First Smoke Question

Have started and am almost finished my first smoke - baby back ribs. It has been a breeze, managed to do while taking care of one year old daughter by myself (luckily she napped the first 2 hours).
My question is once I am finished what do I do with smoker? Close all vents top and bottom I am guessing? Not like my Spirit 310 where you just cut it off haha. Thanks but never have worked with charcoal.
Love the site.

Yup. Close all vents (top and bottom) and the charcoal should go out after a while. If your smoker is pretty air tight it will cool down rather quickly and be completely out in no time. You can reuse the leftover charcoal on the next cook.

Turned out great. Lid temperature stayed about 250 - 270 except for one spike when baby was a handful. Way better than cooking indirect on Spirit with a foil wood pouch. Suprised me that the smoker at these temp cooked them quicker than using the indirect method on spirit.

Can't wait to try something else.

Closing down your vents to kill the fire is good to do. But what I like to do is once the fire is out and I have removed the ash and unburnt coals, I store my unit with all the vents open. That way you get good airflow through the unit while it is being stored. It helps keep strange mold, unwanted moisture and stuff like that from growing on the inside.
