First Boston Butt

I smoked a boston butt for the first time this past weekend. This was my second smoke overall, very pleased with the results. I started with a butt a little over seven pounds, trimmed a ton of fat, injected, and then rubbed it. I used the Chris Lilly injection, bad byrons butt rub, and hickory for the smoke. The cook lasted around thirteen hours and was finished at the perfect time for dinner.

After being injected and rubbed about to go in the fridge for a while.

Rob, THAT is some Mighty Fine PP! Looks like you have this Smokin' Gig nailed early on. Welcome to the Forum.

looks good rob!
do you foil wrap it after you cooked it? or not?
What cooker did you use? WSM? or something else?
What temp did you cook it at?

I used my 18.5 wsm with BBQ guru digiq 2. The guru kept the temp at 235 the entire cook. I will probably do 250 next time. I foiled the butt a little while after the stall started. I let it rest for a little over an hour in a cooler. It really was some of the tastiest PP I can remember having. Thanks for the kind comments guys.

Not bad for a first try. Or a tenth. Or a hundredth.

Seriously, that pulled pork looks fantastic. The bark is great. The meat is moist and tender. And the smoke ring really stands out. You should be proud of your work.
