Finally have a wsm of my own

When I got into BBQ, one of the first sites I found was the bbqbible site and everyone was high on the chargrillers over there so I picked one up. Later I had found this site and was really intrigued with the wsm. Bought my brother a wsm 3 years ago for a house warming gift, kept promoting wsms as much as I could for their efficiency and my dad got a 22.5 when they came out. Now finally I picked up a 22.5 of my own after 6 years of pumping charcoal into a chargriller every 2 hours and playing the wind with every cook. Put my first bag of charcoal in her wednesday with some cherry chunks and threw some chicken quarters after a couple hours of sterilizing the cooker. Boy is she big, I did 8 chicken quarters and it seemed lonely in there.

Congrats on finally getting WMS. You will be glad you got the 22 inch smoker. I have the 18 1/2 and some of the spare ribs will hardly fit on the top grate. I have a DigiQ 2 Guru temp controller to make my life more enjoyable. It keeps my pit temp within 1 degree. I set it and forget it. I hope your first cook goes well, it hard to mess up a cook if you have a temp controller. ALL my cooks have turned out "Wonderfully".

I'm a newbie also, so good luck and there is plenty of information here to help you learn as you go.
