Yep its all dusty like any good barn find should be. One of the leg sockets needs welded back on. Two of the spot welds broke. But the socket is there and there aren't any holes through into the kettle. The slide-a-side half moon rod is ben in a little but the bracket is ok. The lid fits securely on the bowl and it uses the older bracket style ash catcher holder. But the leg sockets have the tab to upgrade to the newer style. Which I will probably end up doing eventually. I have to scrounge around and find xthe third leg. That's pretty much what's gonna either make or break me cooking on it sometime this week. But some one threw this beautiful peice of americana into the trash. I'm glad they did but it is sad how disposable our society is. Right next to this was a 05ish genesis silver a. But I could only get one grill.I'm gonna make this baby NICE! And use it as my take to the river/overflow/backup/roti cooker.

I just set it in this old BGE table for a photo. But it does have the two toned lid which I think looks really cool. I found a leg for it. So I have all the peices to cook on it. Its raining today and I have to work tomorrow. So hopefully get it together Sunday and cook on it first part of the week.
Got the kettle to the repair shop
Bubba welded it up alright.
And picked up some paint, looked flat so I got some clear coat, too.
Will post some results as I get to work on it.

Nice find! That's the high line gold, can't recall exact name, with the thermo and slide aside lid holder! Bar B Kettle maybe, someone on here will know. Handles look to be in really good shape. JEALOUS!

MASTERTOUCH!
Yeah its an awesome grill. Got the flat red flame proof put on. I have to let it cure for a week. Then apply the flameproof clear and let it cure for a week before putting the heat to it. Which is sorta like having to wait until xmas but I want it to last for years so a few weeks is no big deal in the grand scale. But I'll post up some pics as I go. It will give me time to get the legs cleaned up and the wood handles restored. Which are starting to look really good.
Does anyone know if the mastertouch thermometers are available anywhere?

MASTERTOUCH! yes! I think the thermo is the same one that they used on the performer til just recently. Should be able to get it from CS or online. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Well when it rains it pours. Today a SS performer. The bowl was completely roached so I just got a few parts.
But the lid is immaculate. I like the insulated vent. Nice. Its weird this one is also a EE '99 but it has the plastic handle and the mastertouch came with a wood handle and has the same date stamp.
Last week I sniffed out another red mastertouch and turned my uncle loose on it. He picked it up for $15 - total. But the lid on his is pretty beat so i'm gonna give him either my mastertouch or this performer lid.
But 3 reds in less than a month for about the price of a case of beer. Or two t-bone steaks.
With the 3 i'll be able to make 2 really nice mastertouches and add lid holder to another grill. But none of the 3 had thermometers. Weird.
The story on the 2nd mastertouch is wild and goes to show how small the town of bagdad is.Right next to the dump people take scrap metal for free then go to the recycler across town for a few bucks. So one morning last week at this guys house piled on top of his scrap metal trailer is a red MT. I was gonnna stop in and barter it but I didn't have any cash on me at the time. So my uncle came by and saw me and I told him about it and he immediately jumps on it. Barters with the guy and gets it for $10, but its missing the lid. Everything else works fine ash sweepers are all intact and everything. So he figures no big deal I can get him a black lid to use for a while. Well the next day i'm driving in town and spot the lid at another guys house! This guy sells fruits and vegetables right next to the train tracks in bagdad. So I message my uncle and he goes over there. The kid there tells him that it flew out of this guys pickup when he went over the tracks so he picked it up and put it on his porch. Gotta be the same lid I mean what are the chances. Its a MT lid. The kid didn't have any use for it and didn't want it. He didn't even want any money for it but my uncle gave him $5. And he loves it.

My performer looks worse than this now, It is really bad. I dont know if I can save it?
