I just picked this one up today off craigslist:

Looks like someone made there own vent controls:

I emailed Brian to see if he could make me some new handles...this one is marked "G" 1985
 
Looks hardly used unless they oven sprayed the inside down after every cook!!
She's a looker!!
 
The kettle looks real nice, that one touch system is something else. I guess the guy didn't want to spring for the $15 dollars to get a new one.
 
Nice score Kim....I saw that one pop up on CL and it was gone just as fast. Good to see someone here snagged it.
 
Problem with those old ones aren't the handles but the welds. I can see it on this one too.
Even if you put new handles on it eventually the welds are going to fail.
Not sure why they Weber lid bracket welding sucked so bad back then because welding isn't that hard to do.
 
I had a few that seemed weak, I just put a nut and bolt and it strengthened it up. I'm surprised how strong the welds are. I had a handle bent like Kim's and I bent it back on the edge of a table and it straightened out, I thought for sure it would tear it off but it held no problem.
