I'm about to start smoking a 6lb brisket flat. Trying to determine the best wood to use. What would you think of Pecan??? Any other preferred type of wood? Thanks.

I use a mixture of oak and hickory. Pecan is like a mild hickory.

I think if I was just using pecan I'd use a bit more than I normally use of the stronger woods.

Dave, I would suggest Applewood next time. Goes great with pork or brisket!

There is nothing more pathetic than Skins fans comiserating on the TVWB!!!

Pecan is great for just about anything, and very nice with brisket. It's easier to overpower beef with smoke than it is pork, so take care with the stronger smokes like hickory and mesquite.
