Favorite Rub For ABT's

Anyone have a favorite rub that they use on ABT's? I usually don't use rub on them. Last time I made them I used Willy's Wonderful Wub and wasn't that impressed with the flavor it added. Should have used ground chiles instead of paprika, oh well. It's not like they were inedible

, just trying to add another layer of flavor. Thanks for everyone's help.

I've got to second Wild Willy's on this. In my opinion it's tough to beat.

Make your own, Gerry. You'll rarely get very good flavors out of commercial rubs or standard recipes; they rely too much on salt, sugar and paprika--which is good for bulk and color and little else. The sugar will flatten the flavors you're trying to create (a pinch is all that is needed) and the salt should be minimized as well, imo.

Base the rub on the ingredients in your ABTs. You won't need many ingredients in the rub nor will you need to use much of it.

I ended up using Steve Petrone's 4 pepper rub and it was excellent.
