I just purchased a vac.pack with 2 boneless shoulders from costco ($1.09/lb.). I am cooking one MM. Since I was getting my hands dirty applying run to one shoulder...I went ahead and applied rub to the second shoulder, baged it and froze it.

Does anyone rub before freezing?

Thanks,
Steve

I've done that before, but I think it makes the meat taste too "rubby", just MHO. Now I just use the time that the chimney is cranking up to apply rub. I rarely smoke 1 shoulder anyways and do both at a time. Plus, I really like the vac-paks and how thick they are, they work well in the freezer as is.

I have tried rubbing before freezing and have to agree with John L. Its too heavy a taste. Just my opinion though!
