Enhanced Butt...Anything but !!!

Tom F. had convinced me to inject on my next cook. Unfortunately, there was a sale on Enhanced Smithfield butts. I never use them. Since they were enhanced, I made my rub with only 25% of the usual salt. No need to inject these butts.
Cook went well. I chopped the meat. Saly...salty...salty. Yuk Yuk Yuk.

I am not a pro but I can do better than this. I don't believe I would cook an enhanced butt if you gave them to me. I am disappointed.

That's too bad. All that time & effort with a bad result. I had been tempted by sales on enhanced butts, but will heed your warning & never buy one.

An injestion may have helped, I would not add the salt to the injection recipe. The injection could have helped cut the saltiness.

In retrospect, Jim you are probably correct. A little sweetness might have flushed the salt. Had I known what to expect, I would have injected or better yet not cooked them at all.
I wanted to judge the effects of injecting with one of my usual cooks.
