Empty Pan but with ashes?

Hi...

I have cooked both with water and empty pan. I have seen suggestions for cleanup regarding pouring fat that has run into the pan and mix with ashes for easier cleanup.

Silly question, but has anyone ever tried putting some ashes (maybe from a previous cook) in the pan before a cook so cleanup is easy if a non water cook is desired? Would too much ash kick up during the cook?

Thanks

I haven't tried that , but it seems like it'd just make sludge , no? I don't know if ash would puff up from grease dripping into it , but the prospect is enough to make it seem like a non starter.
Since the first few times I've had to clean my water pan after a.cook , I just foil the inside and heave it when I'm done.
