Emblem Question

I am currently working on restoring two grills at the same time. One is a Genesis 5 and one is a Spirit 500 (two burner) probably late 90's. I have both lid emblems off to repaint, but now I can't tell which one goes with which grill.
The one on the right is slightly taller and slightly longer. The one on the left has a solid back while the right one a grooves in the back. It is a slight difference, but the right one has a lager kettle that is closer to the right edge.
Don't pay any attention to the mounting posts, I use my tap and die to place threads on them for reattachment to the lid.

I think the one with TM to the right of the wheel on the kettle goes on the older Genesis 5.

What Dan said, the other clue to it being older is the solid back.

By the time you get to thinking about putting the emblem back on that stain should probably be gone

Look at the lids. Many times the badge has a faint outline left on the lid after cleaning it that you could match up to one badge or the other. OOOOPS, Steve and Danny beat me to that idea.

Good point, not sure how I missed that detail. I think that you are right.

I mean theres still a shadow, im sure i haven't cleaned as many as you but i cant seem to get it perfectly clean under the emblem

The posts on the back are the same as far as I have noticed

Both emblems fit interchangeable in each lid. Same spacing.

There's something left over when I do them sometimes too.

Yah, I have had lids where that shadow will just not clean off the lid. Sometimes it happens along the end caps as well but not usually as bad.
