Elbow in conduit going to the smoker

Hi,

I was looking at the setup of the people in here and I was wondering if I should add a curve to the attachment of my HM?

Would it prevent embers (log burner here) to reach the fan?

Ps. Looking for a good way to attach my damper to a firebox! Will give the dog bowl a try, but if someone has a better idea go ahead!

Dog bowl is for the rounded surface of WSM. Can mount In temporary way. Over vent.

It will work on flat end of other as well., But youve got other options
