E330 NG Manifold questions

During a recent wind storm my grill took a tumble and landed on the front face. One regulator knob broke off.
I called Weber parts and was told I need to order the entire manifold. I only need one regulator/valve but was told
it is a safety issue and parts on the manifold are not replaceable. I find this odd since the part I need is removable by taking out one
screw. I was also told by Weber that I have to assemble the manifold when I get it.

I guess my questions are: Does this make sense to anyone and does anyone know of a source for the single regulator/valve?

Unfortunately attorneys rule the world. So no one wants to take a chance on getting sued if you blow yourself up. It might be pretty hard to find a NG used manifold vs. a LP one so you might be stuck with buying the whole manifold. Which I'm sure isn't cheap.
Question I have is the valve the same as the LP one, just using different jets downstream. If it is you may be able to find a used LP manifold for parts.

AFAIK the internals and the jet is different. Though it depends on the actual valve type. If I could post photos I would be happy to show the difference. But the some valves use a "cone" with 3 different orifices drilled and some use one with slots cut in giving a truly variable flow rate as opposed to low, med, high. If you have the slotted type than only the end orifice needs to be matched to the fuel. Hopefully this makes sense

that you need part 33399, which is available for $35.

Buying the whole manifold though is about $90, so it is hard to say if it is worth it to buy just the one part, especially when you factor in shipping. Buy the whole manifold and keep the original for spare parts, or sell the regulators on Ebay.
