I always dry rub pork butt the evening before I plan to smoke and leave it in the frig overnight. My question is, how long can it marinate in the rub and still be ok? If I apply rub at 7 am Sat morning, will it hold till Sunday morning at 7 am to go on WSM? I hope it will cause that's what I got goin' on right now!!! I had originally planned on putting it on Sat evening about 7pm for an overniter, but plans got changed. 24 hours seems like a long time to go after rub!!! But I cant un-rub it! /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Your fine, no need to worry.
Some will rub a couple days before, I have not noticed any bad results doing this with large cuts like butt or brisket.

If you were talking about a marinade with an acidic component, or a brine, there might be cause for concern. But a dry rub shouldn't have any deleterious effect in an extra 24 hours.
