Door doesn't lay flat

Well i've got my 22.5 WSM all assembled and ready for an ovrnight cook tonight. During the assembly I noticed that the door didn'y lay flat against the smoker. I called Weber and they said it wasn't supposed to, that they do this for venting. Hmmmmmm. Any thoughts? Thanks all.

Jon,

The door on my 18.5 leaked smoke for the first few cooks. After a little seasoning on the inside and a little gentle flexing like in Wolgast's link, it's not an issue. Once you get your WSM broken in a little, it won't leak as much around the door or under the lid.

Thank you both for your responses. I know what I'll be doing when I get home. Have a great weekend all.

Going for the overnighter on your first cook? Wow, you are a brave soul! I wanted to do an overnighter the first time, and I couldn't because I would have worried to much and not slept. That said, it really won't be that bad. My first cook was MUCH easier than I expected so looking back on it now an overnighter probably wouldn't have been an issue.

Good luck...and TAKE PICTURES!
