Does price matter when buying an instant read digital thermometer?

Though there are different levels of Chineseum. There are very good products with very good customer care Like ThermoPro. Honestly I tried the CS on both ThermoPro and ThermoWorks and I'll take TPRO as tops. Refreshing too because of their price point

To be honest..... I'm really surprised how little I use my instant read or my wired probes/wireless thermometers anymore.... I assumed they were things that I HAD to have, but nowadays I can pretty much get by by 'gut feel'.

But they are sure nice to have when you need them! I'm glad I didn't dump a ton of money into them.....

I had a relatively cheap Taylor Instant read thermometer which worked okay. Then I got the thermoworks. I compared the two. The Taylor was amazingly accurate! I was really surprised. The difference was the time it took to come up with the temp. The Taylor took 6-8 secs, the Thermoworks took 1-2 secs. Might seem like a small thing, but those few seconds do matter when you're trying to find the cold spot.

Or when your hand is in blazing heat. :D

Just for a side note/story ---- I'm giving a HUGE two thumbs up to ThermoPros customer service - can't really ask for more! I finally decided on a TP08 wireless unit as my first probe for the WSM --- mainly because it was the cheapest option (back then) at $28 - I really wanted the two probe model (TP20) but couldn't justify the jump to $45. When I got it - it had a problem with the probe connector popping out of the jack for some reason --- I remedied that by just putting a rubber band around it --- but I called up their CS and complained and they sent out another unit without ANY hesitation. Unfortunately, the replacement unit had the SAME problem..... I just used a rubber band on it too - being happy that I had TWO TP08s now (then)! I was pretty happy at that point having two units - but yeah,, four batteries X 2 meant I was chewing up a bunch of batteries over a dual probe unit. The probe jacks seemed to 'work themselves in' over time to the point where the rubber bands weren't needed. THEN --- one of the probes died ~6 months later.... I called up since it was still under warranty and was told 'we don't have any probes in stock, so we will just send you ANOTHER TP08' --- so THREE TP08s for purchasing one unit....!!! I didn't need three units so I gave the one missing a probe to my neighbor who was more than happy to pick up a probe off of amazon. Win-Win all around. It was a no brainer to get the 19H when it went on sale for like $13 knowing that if it failed it would be replaced without question.
