DigiQ DX Fan Size 18.5 WSM

Looking at buying a DigiQ DX and had a question regarding fan size.

I've had a couple responses in another thread but thought i'd start my own specific thread. Both answers said 4 CFM fan should be sufficient for 18.5.

Anyhooo....

The BBQ Guru site recommends a 10 CFM fan for the 18.5 & 22.5 WSM. Sounds like most ppl that have the 10 on the 18.5 have them fairly choked down. Are there any people running the 4 CFM in the 18.5 with any ill results or wishing they had more wind? I understand that having the smaller fan will take the smoker a little longer to get upto temp.

I don't run a digiQ, but with the Stoker they recommend only a 4cfm fan on the 18.5's and many people are using that size successfully on the 22.5's as well. I got the 10 for mine given the subzero smoking weather in Wi but other than a faster ramp up I doubt I need that much air flow either.

I have a Guru competitor and a 18.5 WSM. The 5CFM fan works fine on it even with the Pro-Q attachment. Just be sure to mount it where there is no ash build up if you are using charcoal.
