well since aquiring my new to me red mastertouch, my gasser has been neglected. I love these charcoal grills. However i am finding there is not enough real estate on the 22 inch to cook for a family of four. Well i should say it is real tight. hmmmm maybe i see a 26 in my future. Or another 22. Think it might be kind of a hassle to run 2 22s all the time though. Maybe i should just quit eating so much

Here's something to think about... I think the real benefit of running two is that you can have two totally different heat setups. You could also run a rotis on one, and cook all your veggies and what not on the other.

When we have guests, I sometimes have 2 kettles cooking meat and the gasser cooking yukes and veggies. Running 2-22.5 kettles at the same time is not a problem. Just make sure you have 2 chimney starters!

Hey Corey,
I know exactly what you mean, One - 22.5" kettle is not quite enough Real Estate most of the time when cooking for four, I also regularly cook for four.
Like lew and Chris, before me have stated, having more than one grill running at a time is not unusual. like Chris noted, just last week I had rotisserie chicken parts going on my performer, and potatoes and vegies going on My OTG, at the same time. I do have two Weber chimneys, but could have easily done the same thing using just one chimney!, as I started the OTG for the potatoes, ahead of the performer with the chicken...
I too have thought that a 26'r could help when the cook gets a little too crowded on a single 22.5", but a 26'r has not (yet) been in the cards for me! And I have no reservations firing up two or more of my kettles at a time..

I will say however, that 1 year ago, the same day as my first cook on my new 22.5" WSM, I was doing St. Louis Style Spares, I also had 2 kettles running with Larry Wolfe's Sriracha Chicken Wings going on both of them, (and those need lots of tending) I was also making a big pot of Keri's Hog Apple Beans, and my own Cole Slaw recipe. Now with all that going on at the same time, it was a real handful. I will not try that much again without an assistant, I pulled it off though, it was a bit frantic at times. Had that chicken not required so much tending, it would not have been so bad...

Corey many good benefits have been said already with having a second grill. Its so easy if you are doing veggies and meat to fire up both. Cuts cooking time a lot! I have had parties that I'm running my WSM and 4 22s and believe me it was so easy and save me a ton of time!

Now if you are trying to decided between a 22 and a 26, consider the following:

1. Amazon is offering 20% off this month ONLY using code PATIOOFF at checkout. You need an amazon card though. If you don't have one, go into your shopping cart. There have been people on here posting their offers of $40 or $50 off your first order. Mine was $50 and is now NO INTEREST for 6 months.

2. Current prices (before any discount):
-22.5 OTG is $134.56
-22.5 OTS is $89.70
-26.75 OTG is $299.00
You could pick up TWO black 22.5 OTGs for $269.12 (again before any discounts or no interest) and have so much more cooking room than adding just one 26.75. Then again, you are tossed about adding just one more grill so two is really out of the question I'm sure but....just saying

. Having said that the OTS is even cheaper. Just depends what you'd prefer.

As I am now just rambling I will close with...get another 22. More cost effective and you'll be able to feed more than a family of four. Use the extra money you didn't spend on the 26.75 and have a party!
