Deciphering Old Weber Gas Grill Serial Numbers

Would you guess along with me that this would be a 1991 Genesis 1 LP grill?
How could it be a 1991 model if it has 1992 parts on it? Yes, it is quite possible that the cook box was older than the lid end caps. Weber starts their new model year around October so an August dated cook box certainly wouldn't be out of the ordinary. Based on all the available evidence, that grill is most certainly a 1992 model.

Yes, I do not believe it is out of the ordinary also. I picked up a 97 gen 1000 recently according to the serial number under the control panel, and cook box was stamped a 96.

Yes... that is what I meant to say and my fingers had a mind of their own! Jan 92 end caps, cookbox could be from castings done months earlier, so manufactured sometime 1992. Thanks Steve. I appreciate the help.

The evidence here and from your other posts suggest you have a 1992 Genesis. It's not a 1993 as that would have casters on the left legs and the serial number would start with KL3 vs L3.
