Has anyone smoked with corn cobs? If so, can you smoke them while still fresh, or do the cobs need to be dried?

Thanks!

Yahoo search "smoking with corn cobbs" with give you a couple of results. KCBS archives probably has some info.

I think I will stick with hardwoods!

Cold H2O, I did corn a few times on the WSM. I just soak the entire cob in cold water for 1 hour and then staright to the smoker for about an hour or so. Not to bad...just don't over due it with smoke wood...I do mine after I have finished with the main smoking ingrediet and have fuel left over!

If you do it Chris, let us know how it goes. I've wondered myself, but haven't had the courage to try it out yet. I think the real problem is that it doesn't sound like it would work, but obviously it must as it's an accepted concept. We need someone to leap in and let us know!

You can use them on pork ribs or just about anything. They impart a sweet smoke flavor. a lot of people like them on ham and ribs
