I finished my cooking (about to eat now, will let you know results) and closed all the vents to cool the WSM down, but the temp is going up. Is this usual? How should I cool it down?

If all your vents are closed it should shut down. However if it stays lit than you may have an air leak. Give it some time and see what happens.

Thanks Mike. It has been about 1 1/2 hours since I closed all the vents and the temp was down to 212 in the WSM. Looks like it is cooling down, but will probably take all nite (10:00pm here)

Probably want to check for that air leak. With all vents closed-- top and bottom-- you should be dead cold in less than 2 hours. Check the sections for out-of-roundness, plus the access door for warp-age along the sides.

You are absolutely correct Doug. My unit came out of round and I have a new center section on its way. But I was surprised that even with it out of round it was very easy to control the temp during my cook yesterday.
