Cook for this weekend

A buddy of mine has been out of town for about 4 months and missed all the fall bbq. I told him I would cook up some ribs I had sitting in the freezer once he got back. Then I decided, why not add some chicken thighs? Those are easy enough.

Then during the course of this week I saw some tasty looking ABTs on the forum and thought, that’d be a nice appetizer. And then today, I see Doug’s mushroom dip popping back up. MMMMM I love that mushroom dip, but can rarely make it as half my family is allergic.

So here is the plan for Saturday. Might be getting a little ambitious for just a few people.

Start up the mushrooms & ABTs on the performer a little before lunch on Saturday.

Get the ribs going on the WSM around noon. Add the chicken on there a little later.

Fire the performer backup for some taters and corn.

Let the wife make some dessert.

Enjoy.

Also, going to try out some lump in the WSM for the first time. I always used to grill with it, but when you buy 20 bags of K on sale, it’s really hard not to use it for everything. But I am finally running out from the Lowe’s fall sale.

Hmm. Dunno. I might be at the Okla house, might be traveling. Probably won't know till Fri. Your spread sounds good though.
 
Were supposed to get a blizzard this weekend. But I still plan on putting a tip roast on the WSM for some Italian Beef sammys.

I am thinking about doing the mushroom dip the night before, I think it taste better once it's sat for awhile.

Bill, anytime, just bring some ribs with you, only have 2 racks thawing!
 
We kind of went against the grain for Thanksgiving this year and I smoked A Boston Butt and 3 racks of loinbacks! I never thuoght the families would tear into it and enjoy it like they did! Long story short, I really wanted to try Chris' apple brine turkey recipe, so I think I will smoke a turkey breast this weekend. Kind of a practice run for Christmas.
 
I plan on grilling pork loin steaks for Friday's supper and smoking chicken quarters for Saturday's supper... we'll use the leftover chicken to make smoked chicken salad for Sunday's lunch.
 
Got a lot of cooks for today and tomorrow. 1 rack of Baby backs and jumbo chicken wings with sweet taters starting soon. Tomorrow 18lb ham, breast of a 20lb turkey, 2 racks of baby backs 6 chicken thighs, 12 csr's and chicken breast with hot wing sauce. I love the weekends

I think for the fights on Saturday night I'll do a couple ducks with some squash gnochhi, fiddle heads and then bread pudding for dessert. Not real sure about Sunday yet though. Want to start a cure for some pastrami or maybe make some sausage.

Saturday went pretty well, posting some of the pics in the photo gallery in a bit. Pics of the final chicken and ribs are on a different camera at home, hopefully I will remember to bring it tomorrow!
