Convert grill from NG to LP

Hi everyone,
I'm moving to a house with no natural gas, so I was looking into converting my 2 burner Weber Spirit grill to propane. Not sure of the model, but I bought it in 2010.
I called Weber and they do not offer conversion kits anymore, said they stopped a few years back. Also having a hard time finding anything on the internet.

Did they used to sell conversion kits for this grill, and just stopped? Then maybe I'll have some luck finding someone who converted their propane grill to natural gas, and still has the propane parts. If not, is there any other option besides buying a different grill?

Thanks,
Greg

There was a thread on here with a link to a company that will sell the manifolds.

I only found one thread that had a link to a company with parts, except they don't list the Weber Spirit grill.

I was thinking of calling Weber and trying to order a propane manifold as a replacement part, just tell them that I have a propane version. I heard (on another thread here) that they require the serial number. My local hardware store has one of these LP grills on display, I'll just go write down the serial number off of that unit and give it to them. I'm hoping this will work.

Greg,

This is a copy of a post I left on another thread just swap the ng for propane. Hope it helps with the company I used for parts.

Almost any model that Weber sold as available in propane and NG. If you find a good deal on a propane model check with a parts distributer and see if a NG manifold is available and if so swap it out, very easy to do. I just did a 1993 genesis 1000 cost $49 for a new NG manifold and took about 20 minutes to do it. If you try to buy one from Weber they want the serial # to make sure you’re replacing a NG with a NG, but the parts companies don’t care. Here’s the one I used.

Ok, thanks! Unfortunately the manifold is backordered with no ETA, but this at least gives me a place to start.

So, for the conversion, I would need new burner tubes ($30.07), a manifold ($64.66), and the hose and regulator ($14.96). Does this sound about right?

No need for new burner tubes (unless they're bad). The burners don't care which gas enters them they burn both the same. The regulation is done in the valves themselves and the regulator. You MAY need to adjust the air shutter on the burner but may not

Awesome! Thanks for the help. I'll order the manifold set (which looks like it comes with the regulator and hose) for $64.66. Should be all I need.

Thanks again,
Greg

Greg, glad it worked out and like LMichaels said no need to change out the burners, I've done a couple of conversions and the original burners work fine.

Just for anyone who reads this in the future - I did order the LP manifold from ereplacementparts.com. The manifold came with the hose and the connection to the propane tank. It bolted up to the side of the grill, but the supports are different (the NG one had a rail that went across that the manifold hooked onto. The LP one has two hanger clips). I ended up not using the supports, just using the two bolt holes that go to the grill box. It seems pretty sturdy as it is.
And... It works great!
Thanks again, everyone!
