Cleaning the racks and water pan.

I have searched the forum but I haven't seen anyone say that they HAVE put their pan into the self cleaning cycle in their ovens.

Anyone out there actually done this? And how does it fair?

I know I can put the racks in there (with reasonable confidence...) but the water pan....

Can I throw it in upside down and let it rip?

If anyone has done this, please let me know how it came out. Thank you.

Not the water pan. The self cleaning cycle is too hot for the porcelain enamel coating. The cooking grates yes, but water pan no. It's best to foil line it and hope you don't get any holes in the foil. You can use oven cleaner, Dawn Power dissolver on the water pan for stubborn stuff. HTH
