Cleaning the outside of a gray Genesis 300 series

Is there an effective way to clean the outside of the gray cook box on a Genesis 300 series ?

Not finding this in search, and not something I've bothered to do before.

This one isn't too bad, but the one I'm likely to flip is a mess.

I was considered repainting, however I cannot find the VHT Flameproof in Cast Iron anywhere reasonably priced or even available online reasonably.

And linking in the excellent thread of paint options for my reference later.

I've never tried to clean one of those so not sure how aggressive you can get before paint starts flaking off, which is probably what you're worried about. Oven cleaner may even be too harsh.

I think I have some Dawn Platinum so I'll give that a try.

Yeah, my concern is using something too harsh. Since I can't get my hands on VHT cast iron I don't have a way to fix any problems that I create.

Try Dawn Platinum Spray - just did it last weekend and mine cleaned up pretty good.
Do you know if the Dawn platinum spray is a different formula than Dawn Platinum liquid?

I tried the liquid, and soaked a section and it didn't touch the burnt on carbon grease stains :(
