change to One-Touch

I'm sorry if this has been covered 7,000,000 times, but when did Weber change to the One-Touch cleaning system from the 3 vents on the kettle? The reason I ask is my sister-in-law has a 18.5" Redhead w/wood handles and the One- touch. I didn't get to see the date code.

The transition was not instant. They sold one touch and 3 wheeler grills at the same time. I have a redhead OTS and a black 3 wheeler both from 1990. I think they still sell bar-b-kettles (3 vents) in Germany at the least. I saw a sales pitch for a new one in Germany on YouTube not too long ago.

The One Touch was introduced in 1983 (E). But to Shawn's point, they coexisted for many years after. I believe (correct me if i'm wrong) that in the early years, the One Touch was to the Gold today like the 3 wheelers are to the Silver today in terms of step up/step down in price point.
