Care of 3d printed cases

I just received a couple of great cases for my v4.1.4 HM. (Thanks Tom!)

What is the melting point of this plastic?

When using the HM around a heat source, should I be worried about melting the case? (Just incase I use my HM around something hot... like... oh, I don't know... maybe a grill or smoker...)

Any other tips or comments from the 3D printer community would be appreciated!
 
I've never melted a case, but I have heard of 2 people doing it. Don't let the case touch the smoker, but I leave mine within a foot of my bge pretty regularly. Treat it like you would any electronic device.
 
PLA melts at a lower temp than ABS, but I wouldn't think you will melt either of them unless you press it up against a hot grill as Tom indicated. I don't think any kamado grill is going to get hot enough on the outside to melt a case, but a kettle or other thin walled metal grill might....
