Can't wait

My bride and I are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary today, and her birthday as well. We are having family and friends over for this occassion including Larry R from Fresno who has made several contributions to this site on several occassions. We are currently cooking an 8 lb pork butt (put her on at 4:30 pm yesterday) and she is sittng at 225 at the top grate and is currently at the plateau of 164 internal. We will also be grilling three tri tips and a couple of dozen chicken thighs. Our appetizers will be my version of the ABT's that I call ABTFG's - the FG= for griengos, you know what I mean, I just can't spell it. I use canned roasted green chili instead of jalapenos, for those who can't stand the heat. I use a combination of sour cream, cream cheese, chopped dill weed and garlic salt along with canned chicken to stuff them with and then wrap them with the bacon. They are wonderful and very mild as well. Larry R is bringing his famous Chipotle pasta salad, just hope he isn't planning on taking any of it home, as I love to eat a bowl of it the day after, especially if or I should say when I've had a few too many adult beverages. We'll have various other sides that other people will be bringing as well, so it could prove to be a great time for all, well at least for my WSM and my grill, they are always happy when they get fired up.
If I don't get too drunk, I'll try to take pictures and post them, or at least Larry will be here to help post them for me, unless he gets too drunk, in which case we'll do it when we sober up. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Sounds like a solid afternoon. Have fun.

I'll be firing up the WSM this afternoon after 18 holes. For me, not a bad way to spend a Saturday.

Damn Chris, now I'm jealous. I haven't played golf in so long, that I can't remember how many innings you play. LOL

Looking forward to the event Ed! Getting ready to start the pasta now, can't wait to get my hands on some of those ABTFG and some pulled pork! It's going to be a great time! Got a couple of good reds too!

Have a great party! Are you going to try a hot
pork, tri tip and chicken sandwich? It sounds good.

WOW, what a great time Ed's 30th party was. Everything turned out great!! You will love this; the people at the table I was seated at kept commenting, "this is the best bbq I've had, how can I go back to Famous Dave's after this." It was great, I just sat back a smiled and stuffed my face with pulled pork. Great job Ed.

Thanks Larry, I wish I could remember the tail end of this celebration, but the Coors Light took over. That was the first time I have cooked for that many people, and all were pretty satisfied. Looking forward to helping Larry this June with the graduation party and to see how well we can organize such a large cook as he is planning (for 60 people), but with two smokers and a charcoal grill, we should be just fine.
