Can I use a small amt of charcoal in 18”?

This may be an obvious answer but I do not know. Since I purchased an 18 inch instead of a 14 inch, at times that I only want to smoke a few things, can I get away with just putting a little bit of charcoal in the 18”? Or am I going to have to be like all of you and have several units in my yard? Lol

Yes. The 18 is very fuel efficient for its size. But why worry about it?

No matter what cook I'm doing, I always put a lot of charcoal in the chamber. That way, I don't have to mess with adding charcoal during the cook unless I'm doing a loooong overnight cook.

For a shorter cook, close the vents to snuff out the fire. Then you have the cooker pre-loaded with charcoal for the next cook.

Wiring the ring to the grate to make a basket makes it more convenient to sift out the ash from the re-usable charcoal.
