I just bought one of these and was thinking of replacing the round knob that came with 18 inch model in 2000. What has everybody been doing? I saw the compression one and might get it but it's like $28.00 shipped from Amazon kinda expensive.
 
Yes, it is kinda expensive but worth it. I got it a little while back and once I put it on, all the frustration over the price went away. I was always scared the Weber handle would break after reading others stories. Have used mine quite a few times since installing and it has been great.
 
I know what you mean about ten minutes after posting this I said go ahead. It's like if you are going to buy a bear,buy a grizzly.
 
The compression latch and door are both worthwhile upgrades. The latch is easy to install and figure out how to adjust it. Mine gets pretty hot so I need to get a fiber washer to put on mine to maybe keep the temperature down a bit.
 
All right I will get the washer thanks. Now that's got me to thinking about the wood handle i was going to get,I wonder if they get hot and that's why Weber stopped using them. Time for another post.
 
The compression latch is worth it as is the door. Best mods I have made. The handle does get hot so beware.
 
Would someone please send me a link to this handle, I also just received a new door and would like to consider replacing the handle. Thanks in advance!
