Buying a Spirit

Hey everyone. I've decided to buy a 3 burner spirit and I know the cheapest I have seen is $499 for the 2014 model. While seaching on craigslist chicago I came across someone selling a 2013 model for $350. My dilema is that I do want the gourmet grates that come with the 2014. I was debating if I should get the used grill and buy the grates separate or get the brand new grill?
 
Jason, first of all welcome to the site! Are you looking at the Spirit at Home Depot? That model of spirit with the gourment grates and different door is only sold through HD I believe.
 
That is what I thought Thanks Jason, now I'm only going to give you my personal experience and opinion. Earlier this summer I sold the cheap gasser that only the lady of the house uses because it was junk and I promised her that I would buy her a weber. We saw the one at HD that you're considering. What sealed the deal for me/us is that I found a brand new 3 burner spirit on CL brand new, never used from a young couple that had won the grill in a raffle and didn't even have a patio, it was sitting in the front room when I got there and I gave them the $399 they were asking for with no problem.

Currently you can't purchase the exact grate system that HD is offering (cast iron), I searched and searched but will stand corrected if you or someone else has found it. The only grate system I could find are SS like this one http://store.weber.com/accessories/category/gourmet-bbq-system/1472

Are you able to post a picture of the grill being offered on CL? Seeing the condition of the grill would play into my decision of going new or CL.
