Butt weight loss (not mine)

I wish I could lose weight during the smoke, but beer takes care of that. How much weight do you think a pork butt loses during the cook, about 25%?

My Catering Spreadsheet says closer to 33-35% loss.

It probably depends on what temperature you take your butt to. I take mine to around 195º and lose 45% +/-.

With bone-in untrimmed butts, you will lose just over 50%.

I measure and weigh on 4 butt cooks frequently.

Last one was 38 lbs at the start, and 18 lbs net.
