I,m planning on cooking a 6lb. butt and 3 racks of BB's, but because i have to start the butt alot earlier how do i get the right amount of smoke for the ribs without making the butt too smokey?(if i add the wood to the fire when i start the butt it will almost be used up when i put the ribs on-and if i add more wood when i start the ribs the butt will get a double shot of smoke)Thanks

Someone please correct me if I am wrong. I think I read on this forum that meat stops taking in smoke when it reaches 145 degrees.

Don't worry about oversmoking the butts. I do butts and ribs together all of the time with no problems of oversmoking the pulled pork.
