Burgage.....Healthy and Un-Healthy

I needed a good meat fix, but still needed to keep it 'healthy'. Cathryn and I love Bison meat, but as usual my wife has to stick with BEEF being a Texas girl......So to my amazement and total disappointment she bought 'Bubba Burgers'...but who cares, I was not eating them!

Got the pre-soaked, desilked and seasoned corn on the grill first.

After about 15 minutes I added some sweet potato slices.

15 minutes later, the potatoes are almost done and seasoned with Wolfe Rub Original and I turned up the heat a bit to get ready for the burgers.

Then made 1/3lb burgers out of the 1lb of Bison Meat and simply seasoned with salt and pepper.

And......ummm here are the Bubba Burgers...

Which one would YOU eat?

Added the Bubbas first, then the Bison as I wanted it medium rare.

Dinners ready!

The makings of my burger included lettuce, tomato, red onion and fresh sliced jalapenos on a Multi Grain Bun.

I gotta agree.........I've had Bubba Burgers in the past and they're not bad in a pinch! Especially the ones with onions!!

BTW, the leftover Bison burger was FANTASTIC for breakfast!!!

I grew up near Valentine, Nebraska. There was an annual culling of what was then the largest buffalo herd around. The meat was served as buffalo burgers at a cook-out at the stockyard. Wonderful. Have always been partial to buffalo since then. Much better than beef. Also makes wonderful chili.

That is exactly how I would like my bison burger. Spicy, juicy, meaty..... Awe man, that looks good.

I love these posts, because it makes me more comfortable with making different things for me and my wife. She hates seafood.... I love it. She wouldn't be interested in bison, but the little bit I have had was great.

Awesome as usual.

We've got that same brand of buffalo burger around here, and it's quite tasty. Look like some great burgers!

For the corn...mind explaining a bit on how you cook? What does "desilk"mean? Did you remove any layers of the husk, or leave all on? And it looks direct over the heat???

Thanks!!!

Not at all......you peel back the husk like you were going to remove it, but leave it intact. Then remove all of the a silk, and then fold back the husk's to cover the corn. Then soak the corn in seasoned water. We used salt, garlic and pepper in this instance, but Old Bay Seafood seasoning is a favorite of mine and some folks use sugar water.

Larry,as usual,it looks fantastic! While I would have no porblem with a bison burger,I don't know if the missus would eat it(she's funny!). But,I do know that she wouldn't bring a Bubba burger in the house! She had a fit when I brought some store brand pre-made burgers home to cook for lunch one day! I won't make that mistake again!

Bison burgers look great. I made some bison burgers for a parents day lunch at my sons school last year. He was the envy of his teacher and his classmates because he had a grilled bison burger and most people had some type of fast food.
